Duplex Treatment of AISI 420 Steel by RF-ICP Nitriding and CrAlN Coating Deposition: The Role of Nitriding Duration

چکیده

The duplex treatment of AISI 420 steel samples by nitriding in a radiofrequency inductively coupled plasma (RF-ICP) discharge Ar + N2 H2 atmosphere followed CrAlN coating deposition was performed this study. influence (PN) duration (10, 20, 40, and 60 min) on the structural functional properties duplex-treated determined. A non-linear dependence kinetics found square root PN duration. thicknesses compound layer (CL) nitrogen diffusion zone (DZ) their phase composition resulted different critical loads failures under adhesion tests. Increasing load-bearing capacity caused hardening samples. role wear characteristics after has been discussed. Corrosion tests demonstrated significant enhancement (5–67 times) its corrosion resistance 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution treatment.
